San Sheng
(Ritual Offerings)
A collaborative project exploring Taiwanese ritual culture through contemporary visual communication.
The project focused on “San Sheng” — traditional ceremonial offerings commonly used in festivals and religious practices, and explored how familiar cultural symbols could be translated into a more contemporary visual experience while still keeping their original meaning and atmosphere.

The project began from an interest in how traditional rituals continue to exist within modern everyday life, especially across younger generations and changing visual culture.
I explored symbolism, food culture, religious practices, and shared community experiences through research, photography, visual experimentation, and graphic applications. The process focused on balancing cultural familiarity with a more contemporary visual language.

The final outcome combined branding, visual identity, publication, and exhibition elements to create a shared visual experience around ritual, gathering, and cultural memory.
The project explored how design could create new connections between traditional cultural practices and contemporary audiences through image-making, storytelling, and visual atmosphere.
